4) Wear sunscreen, not sunglasses: no one likes a raccoon:
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a conversation that went similar to this:
Client: Ummm, my father has been wearing his sunglasses all week and he’s developed a bit of a tan line… on his face… Is there anything you can do about that? He looks like a raccoon! And my husband has been wearing his hat on the beach and now he has a hat tan! Is there anything we can do about that?!?
Jason: … … … How do they feel about makeup? =-]
So… What do I recommend?
An ounce of prevention is worth a metric TON of cure. If you wear prescription glasses on a normal basis and you’re planning on wearing them in the photos, then by all means wear your glasses. However, if you are planning on not having sunglasses on when you’re getting your photos taken, then I would recommend not wearing them at all during the days leading up to your family photo session. If you’re bald like me, then the temptation is to wear a ball cap so your head bone doesn’t get burned. A hat is not bad, however, I recommend wearing one that has a wide brim all the way around. It will help keep sun out of your eyes as well as off of your face. Best of all, it won’t give you that distracting hat tan AND it’s in fashion here on the beach. Lots of them come in camo too! BONUS!
